Valentine’s Day is a day like some other for me. I have never been in a relationship on the day or have I had any love interest at the time either. So it’s not a big deal for me. However, it’s extremely annoying just because of the people who decide to do love declarations to their other half. That post pictures of them together as if they are the best couple alive. As if that day is the day they forget all the problems they have in their relationships and just be in love. It might sound a bit bitter from me, but it’s not. It’s just annoying.
I have always said that for me, Valentine’s Day is just an excuse for people to go mental and spend money. Meals in restaurants are absolutely overpriced and flowers as well. I do understand it’s a day to show your loved one how much you care and love them, but there’s also every other day throughout the year.
This day is also known by the day single people dread the most. Mostly because it’s a reminder that they are alone and don’t have anyone. Yes, I agree. It’s hard to see all those “happy” people in a relationship when you are single. But I also think that single people should focus on their own happiness and not some others that like to brag about their presents on Facebook or Instagram.
It’s not that easy, you might say. I know it’s not. I have been single all my life, yet that doesn’t mean I like to be single. But I’m glad because that has thought me to love myself and enjoy my own company. Yes, there are times I wish I was in a relationship, but I do enjoy being single.
So all I say is, learn how to love yourself. It’s more important than Valentine’s Day. If you don’t like it, throw a Party for single people. Be with your girls/ boys and go out. Make fun of the people who are in relationships. Just don’t stay home alone watching shitty romcoms and falling into a depression on your own. Life is much nicer and easier with friends by your side.
As I said in my previous post, we are in charge of our own happiness.
